About the artist
The journey to now
After completing my schooling here in South Africa I travelled and then began studying Commercial Art at a local college. When the Photography component of the course started, I immediately knew where my passion lay. I dropped out and enrolled in a three-year Photography course the following year.
Those were the days of film and grain. I spent many hours in the darkroom and studied the masters like Ansel Adams, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Alfred Stieglitz, and my personal favourite Diane Arbus, among others.
Through the years I realised my obsession with flowers and macro imaging and happily joined the world of pixels and Instagram.
Although photography has always been an integral part of my life, my journey took many twists and turns, with big wins and big losses.
I am the mother of two handsome now-grown boys. The journey as a single artist mom was not an easy ride, but we navigated it with a touch of magic and many laughs.
I worked as a fashion photographer in Cape Town in my twenties. I have done both food and interior photography as well as my own loose in-the-moment style of wedding photography.
Now that my sons are big handsome young men, I finally have time for peaceful reflection. This allows me to produce work that comes from a place outside the hustle of commercial photography, and to truly enjoy the process.
About the art
Fine art prints
Add a touch of exclusive art to your walls. This is a high-quality photograph printed on premium Hahnemühle German Etching (310g) paper. It has a beautiful, heavy, textured feel, and the colours look rich and professional.
Size & details
This print comes with a built-in white border, making it very easy to frame.
- Image size: 20 × 20 cm
- Total paper size: 30 × 30 cm (includes a 5 cm white border all around)
- Paper: Thick, textured 310g museum-quality paper
I shoot with a Fuji X-T2 camera on which I have a special mount to attach a Nikon 55mm macro analogue lens — a beautiful blend of old and new. I edit using overlays and highlight points to give the images a slightly surreal, almost oil-painting kind of feel.
Prints can be full framed in 22 centimetre kiaat wood, or alternatively printed on stretched canvas. Feel free to contact me to discuss alternative options or a commission that fits your space.
Studying photography at university was where it all began, and sometimes life has a funny way of coming full circle. Recently, the owner of the fine art printing company I use reached out—it turns out we actually studied together! He dug into the archives and found these photos of me from our final-year field trip to the West Coast. Looking back at these makes me incredibly proud of how far the journey has come, and I love knowing that the same passion from my student days goes into every single print I share with you today.
